Conicelli Dealerships Give Cradles to Crayons' Spring Greening Initiative a Giant-Sized Power Boost

There's less than one week remaining for area residents to participate in the Conicelli Auto Dealerships-Cradles to Crayons' joint Great Green Spring Clean and Drive initiative.

The program, which ends Tuesday, April 30, provides an important -- and vitally needed -- opportunity to repurpose children's items that are no longer needed and put them into the hands of low-income and homeless children in our community -- helping to mitigate the acute effects of poverty while keeping the items out of landfills.

Continuing through April 30 -- in support of the joint Great Green Spring Clean and Drive initiative -- the Conicelli Autoplex on Ridge Pike in Conshohocken, which includes Conicelli Toyota Scion, Honda, Nissan and Hyundai, and the Conicelli Toyota Scion dealership on Baltimore Pike in Springfield, will serve as collection points for the donated children's items that have been forgotten, no longer fit, have fallen out of favor, or simply were never used. Dropoff boxes are located at each location.

Further supporting the "Great Green Spring Clean and Drive" program, the Conicelli dealerships are offering an additional incentive for area families to bring the new and nearly new children's items needed by Cradles to Crayons for the area's vulnerable children to their Conshohocken and Springfield locations: an opportunity to test drive one of our new hybrid-, electric- or natural gas-powered cars.

Cradles to Crayons accepts items for children in need, birth through 12, including new and nearly new infants' and children's clothing, socks and underwear, coats, hats, footwear, newborn baby items, baby safety equipment, books, and arts and crafts/school supplies. A more detailed list of needed items (and unacceptable ones, too) is available at the Cradles to Crayons website.

The Conicelli Autoplex in Conshohocken is located at 1200 Ridge Pike, in Springfield at 860 Baltimore Pike.

Cradles to Crayons is a Montgomery County-based nonprofit that provides children, 0-12, in homeless or low-income situations in the Greater Philadelphia region, with essential items to alleviate the acute effects of poverty; supplying these items year-round without charge by connecting communities that have with communities that need -- concurrently fostering social change by providing meaningful, tangible volunteer experiences for adults and children.

Best 'green' car in America announced, gets 130 MPGe. Test-drive it today at Conicelli Nissan!

Benefiting from a mild redesign, the all-electric 2013 Nissan LEAF has been named as the Best Green Car of 2013; it's available today at Conicelli Nissan, as are two Leaf charging stations for complimentary use by the LEAF community.

Conicelli Nissan, in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania has offered the all-electric Nissan LEAF since it first came to the Philadelphia market in 2011, and is stocked with cars ready to test drive.

"You won't find an all-electric car that offers a better balance of range, practicality, refinement and value than the LEAF," according to the just-released list of the 10 Best Green Cars of 2013 from Kelley Blue Book's KBB.com
.

After two years on the market, Nissan tweaked some aspects of the LEAF for 2013, and the result is an increase in efficiency from 103 MPGe to 130 MPGe. "MPGe" is the method that's been devised to provide electric-only vehicles a number that's equivalent to miles per gallon of gasoline. Overall, the changes mean a larger trunk, shorter charging time and longer driving range, not to mention a price that's been lowered by $6000 from last year's model. Importantly, the $7500 federal tax credit still applies, and depending upon where you live, there might be significant state and local tax incentives, as well.

The LEAF, a four-door hatchback design that seats five, is offered in three trim levels, S, SL, and SV, and is now being produced in Smyrna, Tennessee instead of being imported from Japan.

The LEAF is a fully-outfitted car with all the expected amenities, even in its base trim. The LEAF S includes such items as heated front and rear seats, heated leather steering wheel, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, Nissan Intelligent Key, pushbutton start, and 4-speaker AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA audio system with USB connection, Sirius/XM capability and steering wheel mounted controls. On the base model!

The all-electric 2013 Nissan LEAF is available now at Conicelli Nissan, a part of the Conicelli Autoplex family of dealerships in Conshohocken and Springfield, just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Further information about the all-electric Nissan LEAF can be had by calling Conicelli Nissan at 1-888-Conicelli.

Conicelli Offers the Most Surprising 'Green' Car of 2013

KBB.com has announced its list of the Best Green Cars for 2013, and four of the ten winners are from brands offered by the Conicelli dealerships in Conshohocken and Springfield, Pa.

Efficient automobiles are hardly surprising anymore, given the advances in technology in recent years. The car-buying public has seen miles per gallon rise steadily since the '90s, so seeing numerous hybrids like the iconic Toyota Prius on the roads is not uncommon.

But as technology continues to advance, improvements in efficiency are moving to larger vehicles each year. The just-released 2013 list of KBB.com's Best Green Cars includes the expected Toyota Prius, Toyota Prius Plug-in, the Honda Fit EV and the Nissan Leaf (brands that are all available at Conicelli Autoplex, selling Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Scion, and Toyota vehicles near Philadelphia).

But surprisingly, perhaps even astoundingly, number nine on the list is the 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, the largest sedan in the Toyota lineup!

The 2013 Avalon Hybrid achieves 40 MPG highway and 39 MPG city, a level of efficiency that was previously only matched by what used to be thought of as "typical" hybrids: somewhat small and quirky vehicles. Well, this isn't that, by a long shot. The all-new 2013 Avalon Hybrid offers spacious seating for five and a generous trunk, in addition to standard features that used to be reserved for top luxury cars.

With the Toyota Avalon Hybrid, the buyer can expect heated leather-trimmed seats, backup camera, power tilt/slide moonroof, alloy wheels, and a long list of other amenities. As KBB.com says in their announcement, "If comfort per gallon were a thing, Avalon Hybrid might be king."

Customers with an interest in both economical operation and luxury appointments may have found the perfect vehicle. View the current Avalon Hybrid inventory and test-drive the all-new 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid, as well as the full lineup of dependable Toyota models, at the two Conicelli Toyota showrooms, located near Philadelphia in Conshohocken and Springfield, Pa. Just call 1-888-Conicelli or visit the websites of Conicelli Toyota of Conshohocken or Conicelli Toyota of Springfield.

Just in Time for Spring Cleaning

A timely -- and vitally needed -- effort by local nonprofit Cradles to Crayons to collect new and nearly new clothing and other items for area children living in low-income and homeless situations is getting a giant-size power boost from the Conicelli dealerships in Conshohocken and Springfield.

Beginning Monday, April 15, and continuing through May 1 -- in support of the joint Great Green Spring Clean and Drive initiative -- Conicelli Autoplex, which includes Conicelli Toyota Scion, Honda, Nissan and Hyundai on Ridge Pike in Conshohocken, and at the Conicelli Toyota Scion dealership on Baltimore Pike in Springfield, will serve as collection points for the donated children's items that have been forgotten, no longer fit, have fallen out of favor, or simply were never used. Dropoff boxes will be located at each location.

"Not only do we want to make it as easy and convenient as possible for local families to drop off the items they have rooted out from drawers, closets and other convenient 'hiding places,'" said Lori Hammond, Internet director/partner of the Conicelli dealerships, "but we want to offer an additional incentive for them to bring these items to our locations: an opportunity to test drive one of our new hybrid-, electric- or natural gas-powered cars.

"We will also be having a drawing for some great prizes on Saturday, April 20, at the Conicelli Toyota service building at our Conshohocken location and our Toyota Scion new car showroom in our Springfield, Delaware County location," she added, "where our hybrid vehicle display and collection boxes will be located for the big drop-off day event. The prizes will include two complimentary emissions inspections as well as a $100 Whole Foods gift card.

"It's a natural tie-in," Lori continued, "to the Great Green Spring Clean and Drive message: declutter your home; reduce, repurpose and recycle children's everyday essential items -- well before the end of their useful lives; and keep them out of landfills and reduce our carbon footprint. That all adds up to helping clean the environment," she added, "which is exactly what our line of energy-efficient automobiles is intended to help do!"

Among the most-needed items are:
  • Boys PJs, sizes 9/10, 11/12 and 14/16

Conicelli Contributes $20,000 to Plymouth Township Police Department; donation will help replace slain Officer Bradley Fox's K-9 partner

We were very honored to have had the opportunity to help the Plymouth Township Police Department with a donation to help cover the cost of obtaining and training a new police dog.

On January 15, 2013, members of the Conicelli family presented the department with $10,000 matched by a donation from the Toyota Dealer Match Program for a total of $20,000.

The K-9 officer is intended to take over the duties of Officer Bradley Fox's dog, Nick, who was given to Fox's family after his death in the line of duty in September, 2011.

Currently, there are two narcotics-sniffing dogs in the department and, with Nick's retirement, one explosives-sniffing K-9.

The new dog will be a Belgian Malinois, like Nick, and follow in his footsteps as an explosives expert and patrol dog.

Click to view a video of the presentation.

"It will cost approximately $9,000 for the dog himself, and then when you throw in six months' worth of training, equipment and material that's needed, you're talking about a cost to the department that's closer to $50,000," Chief Joseph Lawrence said. "When you talk about man-hours and pay, it's a great expense to get a dog."

Conicelli is very excited to announce our involvement with a great cause for the fifth year in a row. The Driving Away the Cold Program is a philanthropic effort of the CARing for Kids Foundation that will donate 10,000 new child-size coats to those in need. In addition, Conicelli has pledged that for every car sold in September at one of our dealerships, we will donate an additional coat. In past years the Conicelli organization has donated approximately 1,000 coats per year and we would like to continue to improve on that number.

In just four years, the program has given the gift of a new winter coat to nearly 80,000 children ? that totals more than $1.2 million in giving. This year, the program hopes to donate its 100,000th coat.

61st Conshohocken Soap Box Derby on July 4 Sponsored Again by Conicelli Autoplex

Have a full day of fun watching kids from 8 to 18 compete in three classes to race in the national Soap Box Derby later in July, a race that's been called "the greatest amateur racing event in the world."

The 61st Conshohocken Soap Box Derby will be held on Fayette Street between 5th and 8th Streets on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 starting at 8 a.m., and is again sponsored this year by Conicelli Autoplex of Conshohocken.

Racing down Fayette Street during the 2010 Conshohocken Soap Box Derby.

Sanctioned by the national All-American Soap Box Derby, the race is for boys and girls from 8 to 18 who construct and race their own Soap Box Derby cars, with the winners being awarded trophies and cash prizes.

Begun in 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, and moved to Akron the following year due to its hillier terrain, the Soap Box Derby has been run every year since, with the exception of the World War II years. Youngsters from throughout the United States and from several foreign countries come to Akron with the race cars they have built and driven to victory in their home communities.

The top three winners in each of three divisions will qualify for the World Championship in Akron, Ohio, which will take place on July 21, 2012.

Last year's Conshohocken race featured 34 contestants with 15 children in the stock division, 13 in the super-stock division, and six in the masters division.

The goals of the Soap Box Derby program have not changed since it began in 1934. They are to teach youngsters some of the basic skills of workmanship, the spirit of competition and the perseverance to continue a project once it has begun.

Those interested in participating can sign up on the website of the All-American Soap Box Derby, which offers complete information about qualifying, building the cars, and all about the decades-old history of the race.

It will be a full day of family-oriented fun with food, refreshments, games, exhibits, and most importantly, the 61st edition of a perennial favorite Conshohocken event, proudly sponsored again by Conicelli Autoplex.
